Building character strengths through sports
Through project-based learning, teachers assist and guide students to construct their own learning experience. KS3 PE lessons will take place 3 times a week including swimming, sport-specific skill-based lessons and developing the scientific knowledge of the human body through practical projects.
The experiences and outcomes will expand a student’s capability to undertake diverse roles and responsibilities within the sport. We use sports to build character, develop leadership skills, set goals, encourage risk-taking and develop strategic thinking.
The Regent Sports Leaders Programme will give KS3 learners the opportunity to take responsibility for EYFS, KS1 and KS2 sporting events. Regent is a member of the Dubai Affiliated Secondary Sport Association (DASSA). Students compete in a range of DASSA sporting competitions, leagues, swimming galas and tournaments.
Regent hosts whole school sport events throughout the academic year, including Sports Day held at Sports City Track and Athletics Stadium. Other events include the Dubai Fitness Challenge, Football and Rugby Festivals, Regent Inter-school Swimming Gala, Wake up-shake up and a range of Inter-house sporting competitions.
PE at Regent follows the Positive Education ethos which focuses on the importance of character strengths by incorporating the wide range of these strengths within our PE curriculum.
