Building Character through Sports
Regent is a member of the Dubai Affiliated Secondary Sport Association (DASSA) where we compete against other top schools in Dubai and regularly come home with trophies. Students compete in a range of DASSA sporting competitions, leagues, swimming galas and tournaments. Regent squads include Netball, Basketball, Rugby, Cricket, Dance, Football, Rounders, Cheerleading, Swimming and Athletics. The squads are continually expanding and with such a high demand for competitive sport, Regent offers up to 33 squads over the academic year running 5 days a week that include morning and after-school training sessions.
The Regent Sport Leaders programme gives Key Stage 2 learners the opportunity to take responsibility for sporting events. In 2019-20, the Sports leader at Regent had the distinction of being selected as “Unified Champions” for the Special Olympics hosted in the UAE.
Whole school sport events are hosted by Regent throughout the academic year, including the Key Stage 2 Sports Day held at Dubai Sports City Track and Athletics Stadium. Other events include the Dubai Fitness Challenge, Football and Rugby Festivals, Regent Inter-school Swimming Gala, Wake up Shake up, and a range of Inter-house sporting competitions.
All our classes follow the Sports Education Model where our teachers assist and guide students to construct their own learning experience. These experiences and outcomes progress and expand a student’s capability to undertake diverse roles and responsibilities within a sport rather than simply performing. Sports Education enhances confidence, responsibilities, leadership and communication. Inter-house points are awarded in every lesson with a winner announced every half-term.
