Cross-curricular Learning
In Key Stage 2 (Year 3 to 6) we provide a broad and balanced curriculum which is enriched by a wide range of extracurricular activities. A thematic approach is adopted in order to develop learning through connections across subjects, context and the students’ passions. The emphasis of our curriculum is to develop critical thinking so students can apply their skills to solve a range of problems and be prepared for the challenges of an ever-changing world. At the core of the curriculum is our Positive Education ethos which runs through everything that we do. Children are encouraged to recognise and develop their own character strengths as well as those of others. Children are empathetic towards others and have a real self-awareness. Our students are not afraid to challenge themselves and re-frame failure as a “First Attempt in Learning” (F.A.I.L).
We encourage students to make cross-curricular links and connections, which ensures high levels of engagement, motivation and learning. As a Microsoft school, we use a range of technologies such as Microsoft Office365, SharePoint, Teams and OneNote, as well as a range of learning apps to augment and support learning in the classroom and at home.
As well as learning in the classroom, we provide a wide range of extracurricular activities, sports, the performing arts, computing and art to support the development of the whole child.
