Music Enriches our School Community
Music is critical for cognitive and creative development and is fully embedded into every aspect of school life at Regent. Music lessons in Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and 2) aspire to see all our students as musicians, equipping them with not only musical skills, but also the creativity, critical thinking, perseverance and confidence. Our students follow a dynamic programme built upon activities such as: singing, movement, instrumental learning, performing, composing and ensemble performances.
The Creative and Performing Arts are an integral part of life at Regent with numerous opportunities to perform throughout the year in class and school assemblies, school festivals and celebrations, creativity mornings and school choirs. Many students join our Performing Art squads who are coached through our after-school programme giving the opportunity to develop their performance talents and skills.
Our musical production is one of the highlights of the year at Regent. Over the past few years, our students have “travelled through the rabbit hole” performing Alice in Wonderland, have “taken a magic carpet ride” in Alladin Trouble, have boogied to “I Like to Move It” in our production of Madagasgar Jr., and convinced the audience to become “believers” in our most recent production of Shrek the Musical Jr. Our performing arts squads also perform a showcase at the end of each academic year to share their development over the year.
