Our triumphs earn us points, our defeats make us stronger and wiser
We encourage healthy competition and promote the sense of being part of a team. These two points are fulfilled through the many opportunities for pupils to earn points for their ‘House’.
Whole School House System
On entry to the school, each Regent student is allocated to a House. We always seek a balance of boys and girls in each House as well as a balance of age groups. Pupils wear a school cap which represents the colour of the House they are part of. This adds to the pupils sense of belonging and identity.
Here are our Regent Houses: Green Eagles, Yellow Hawks, Red Falcons and Blue Kestrels.
The House system supports our ethos of positive education, collaboration and shared ambitions. When awarding pupils with House Points, there is an emphasis on the behaviour and efforts of students as well as achievements. We value and recognise the character strengths and learning behaviours of our learners as well as their positive actions and responses to others. Through our house points system, we truly support and embody the school vision that inspiring minds and building character will result in success and fulfilment.
Using sport as a facilitator students are expected to collaborate within houses to earn house points. To enable this students are challenged each lesson to practice and implement new practical skills into team games and win points for their house. They are also awarded points based on their tactical decision making and co-operation levels as part of their teams. The points are tallied every half term and the winning house receives awards for excellent performance.
Each year, we recruit House Captains to act as key advocates and leaders of each house. House Captains play a very important role in school, acting as student leaders and setting a positive example of behaviour, attitude and work ethic to others. Each year, there is a sense of anticipation and excitement to see who will be receiving the House Cup in recognition of the collective efforts and achievements of each house. Let’s see who will be the winners for this academic year!
We promote leadership and responsibility, especially for the older students who take on important roles within their House. Students become role models for their peers by putting in the hard work and effort, especially the Key Stage 2 and 3 Students.
Through a range of activities and small roles within the Houses, we promote curiosity and creativity in the students. The system provides cross-school/subject opportunities as well as awarding everyday points so that each and every student has the opportunity to contribute to the success of their House.
With the chance of contributing to their House, students will try new things and
compete in areas they may not have thought about before, thus
promoting confidence and a real sense of adventure!
