Extracurricular Participation is as Important as Academic Achievement
At Regent, participation in extracurricular activities (ECAs) is as important as academic achievement. We provide our students with the opportunity to develop their interest in various activities and channel their energy into developing new skills. On any given day, the school is abuzz with students engaged in a variety of ECA and enrichment programmes that are delivered by staff who are experts in their respective ECA fields. Our ECA line-up offers programmes in individual and group sessions, and are divided under two streams after school every term. ECAs at Regent are run by our teachers from 2.40pm to 3.40pm daily, every term, and are open to Regent students only (at no extra cost). Foundation Stage to Year 1 have no ECAs; while Year 2 to 6 students have ECAs twice a week.
Art & Design is a key part of our educational offering because it encourages student learning and development, fosters creative thinking, and nurtures a heightened sensitivity and appreciation of life.
Art, artistic flair, and creative thinking are present in all facets of life from the home, school, industry, social networks and relationships. Regent’s art curriculum gives students the opportunity to develop their artistic and creative skills and explore a range of media.
We provide a supportive and structured environment so students are able to interpret and articulate the subtle nuances of the language of Art, understand and appreciate different contexts, cultures and traditions, and develop their own creative voice.
Dance and Movement is a key part of our curriculum and dovetails with our Music and Drama programme. Regent has a large and impressive dance studio with teachers who nurture students who wish to develop their talent and skills in this area.
We strongly believe in providing all students the opportunity to access, experience and contribute to various aspects of the creative process from script to stage. This can take the form of extracurricular activities, trips and workshops as well as getting involved in whole-school productions either as performers or backstage crew. Regent is renowned for our theatre productions and we consistently draw full house. Every year, our productions get more and more ambitious and the large portion of student body is involved.
All students are encouraged to participate in at least one sport of their choice. In addition, gifted and talented students are invited to apply to our sports squads in Football, Swimming, Netball and Basketball. Regent participates in a number of sports leagues and is a member of the Dubai Affiliated School Sports Association (“DASSA”), a well-established body that organises leagues and tournaments for schools in Dubai throughout the year. In addition, we play friendly matches with other schools which have competitive squads. We typically schedule games after school hours during the week, and on weekends to make it easier for parents to come and watch. Our students often train before and after school hours on week-days and weekends for the competitions.
Visit our Sports Hub here to find information on all our squads match fixtures in the various leagues in Dubai. The Sports Hub is also available on our VLE Mobile App.
