Recruitment Process
Step 1: Interviews
1. Applicants must email their CVs with the required documents as per Applicant Checklist to: careers.fortis@risdubai.com. Please refer to our “Interview Checklist” below.
2. Shortlisted applicants are interviewed via SKYPE or via a face-to-face interview at venues to be advised in the UAE, or overseas in the UK, Ireland and Scotland.
3. After a successful interview, applicants are moved to the “Priority Shortlist” and referees are contacted.
4. All applicants are notified on the status of their application normally within 30 to 90 days after the interview but no later than 30th of April for a September Academic Year start.
Step 2: Offer of Appointment
1. From the priority shortlisted applicant pool, the school makes Offers of Appointment.
2. Once an applicant has accepted and posted his/her signed contract along with his/her original and attested educational certificates, the School issues the prospective employee a “Teacher’s Orientation Handbook”.
3. The school and the incumbent employee will stay in regular contact before the prospective employee’s start date. The prospective employee must submit his/her air-travel information (date/flight carrier/times etc), to the School so that the School can collect an overseas hired candidate from Dubai International Airport upon arrival to Dubai.
4. Staff are expected to report to duty before the academic term at the designated date and time which the School will advise, for INSET and Induction.
5. As good practice a new employee should start attesting their educational certificates once sh(e) signs his/her Offer of Appointment. (Refer to the Attestation Procedure on the website).
Step 3: Securing a UAE Residence Visa
Upon initial employment, an employee is on a probation period as per his/her contract during which time the School secures approvals from the various government departments. The School obtains the UAE Residence Visa, UAE Work Permit, and Ministry of Education / KHDA Teacher Status Approval on behalf of each employee, provided that the employee has lodged his/her original and attested educational certificates with supporting documents when joining the School.
Application Process of UAE Residence Visa
Due to the procedures of the UAE government departments, (Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour, Dubai Dept. of Immigration, Dubai Police, Dept of Health & Medical Services, Knowledge & Human Development Authority etc), the process of obtaining a UAE Residence Visa and/or a Work Permit can take anywhere from 1 to 3 months. The process can be quicker if the employee provides the school all documentation as per contract before joining.
UAE Residence Visa
Upon the school’s receipt of all approvals from the various government departments, each employee must undergo a medical examination. Upon receipt of a medical clearance, the employee’s passport is forwarded to the Dubai Dept of Immigration for a residence visa stamp. The Immigration office will return the employee’s passport via courier to the School with the UAE residence visa stamp after which the passport is handed over back to the employee.
