The RIS Impact

As a school, and through its students and employees, and its parent community body, FRIS (Friends of Regent International School), RIS has been making an impact through various volunteer and charitable organisations. 

FRIS (Friends of RIS – “FRIS”)

Friends of Regent International School, RIS’ parent community body, regularly holds events at the school to raise funds towards various charitable initiatives.  The funds raised by FRIS are then matched in equal proportion by the school and donated to particular organisations and causes.

Scholarships

RIS has a quota of awarding two scholarships every year to families and students in financial need.  Various factors are looked at in awarding the scholarships.  For privacy reasons, the names of the scholarship students are kept confidential.

 
Rise Up (
www.RiseUp-org.com)

For the last 1 year, RIS has made a regular monthly financial contribution to RISE UP (Relief Initiatives to Support & Empower the Under privileged), an organisation that focuses on the helping the community of the UAE, in particular the migrant workers who have been left abandoned by the employers and especially hard hit from the recession of 2008-9.  RIS’ financial contributions go towards providing daily food, housing, medical treatment, air tickets back home, and counselling support to these workers can sustain themselves until they get re-employed or find their way back to their home countries.


Manzil (www.manzil.ae)

Manzil is another UAE based non-profit organisation that focuses on helping challenged children with their educational needs.  RIS has been involved by providing financial assistance to Manzil and also aims to develop deeper links whereby Manzil students can periodically visit RIS and be mentored by RIS students.  This not only helps Manzil students integrate themselves into mainstream education but also heightens RIS students’ awareness of other children.


Al Noor (www.alnoorspneeds.ae)

Al Noor school is a UAE based non-profit organisation that focuses on helping challenged children with their educational needs.  RIS has been involved in fundraising iniativeis for the school.


Karuna Society for Animals and Nature (www.karunasociety.org)

Karuna is an animal welfare organisation based in India that rehabilitates abandoned animals and provides care and medical treatment.  RIS has been involved in fundraising and providing financial assistance.
